The wide range of tooling is produced by a workforce of over 100 employees. Complete flexibility allows the company to support the needs of the customer and meet the delivery requirements wherever possible.
Raw material stores, modern heat treatment facilities, state of the art machine tools, PVD coating equipment, inspection procedures: each phase of the production cycle is carried out and monitored “in house” according to established quality standards.

Resharpening and recoating service
The range of coatings, developed to satisfy every machining requirement, is produced inside the company by highly skilled operators.
Vergnano also offers a re-shaping and re-coating service. If required, full hob re-profiling, either for recovering damaged tools or for hob profile modification*.
* This service is provided when shipping a minimum of 10 hobs
Integrated system for design and production control
A new modern software, developed by the company’s technical department, allows to:
- Design and optimize the hob, starting from the gear data.
- Define the more convenient cutting parameters.
- Easily produce the hob construction drawing, with all data needed for the tool machining.
- Check the production steps until the hob final inspection.
- Manage the hob database.

Since its introduction Vergnano has actively participated in the development of the dry hobbing method. The rationale behind this choice has been confirmed by consistent investments made by major manufacturers of speed gears and transmissions in this hobbing method.
The company was founded by Luigi Vergnano in 1944, for the production of standard and special tools. The new plant, built in 2002, covers an area of more than 7.6 acres 2.9 of which being the manufacturing facility.
The current production runs on three product lines:
- Standard and special threading taps.
- Gear cutting hobs in HSS and solid carbide
- Milling cutters
